Natural Wonders of Honolulu

Honolulu Hawaii offers a lush tropical paradise for all visitors. Honolulu has a tropical climate, warm and humid year round with pleasant breezes and sunny.  Offering several white sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal clear water for snorkeling, swimming and surfing. Honolulu is located on Hawaii's beautiful island of Oahu. Honolulu is best known for it's fabulous Waikiki beach area. Visitor's can enjoy shopping, dining in five-star restaurants and wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. Honolulu has two nearby extinct volcanoes The Punchbowl and Diamond Head.
The Punchbowl Crater is located behind Honolulu Harbor, this extinct volcanoe was once a sacrificial ground and site of many secret royal burials. Today the Punchbowl Crater is The National Memorial Cemetery of The Pacific, the final resting site of thousands of service men and women.
Diamond Head is the most famous volcanic crater in the world. Diamond Head Crater had been extinct for 150,000 years, the crater is 3,520 feet in diameter with a 760-foot summit. Diamond head was once occupied by military personnel using the crater as a major defense fort, named Fort Ruger. Numerous cannons were located within the crater, providing complete protection from invading enemies. During 1910 an observation deck was constructed atop the summit for target sighting. Built within the walls of the crater was the command post a four level underground complex. A 580-foot tunnel was dug through the walls of the crater to provide easy access to the Fort. Visitors can  hike the Diamond Head Trail 1 3/4 miles to the rim. Offering breathtaking views of the entire west side of the island, from Waikiki to Koki Head.
